Commerce Resource Centers *****
Sixteen centers nationwide were founded to assist small and medium-sized
enterprises (SME) make the transition from out-dated, paper-intensive modes of operation
to highly automated and integrated processes. While each has outreach programs and a
mission to help SMEs in their own areas, each also has some specialties of expertise.

***Miscellaneous and Test Reports***
The Air Force CALS Lab conducts Interoperability of CALS data submitted by various
sources. The AFCPO Lab evaluates the data against the current CALS standards and generates
a Quick Short Test Report (QSTR). This report indicates if the submitted data meets the
CALS standards, and if not, indicates where the problems occurred. The AFCPO Lab can
accept CALS data sets on nine-track tape, floppy, or ftp to the internet node. Evaluation
against MIL-STD-1840A/B, MIL-D-28000A (IGES), MIL-M-28001B (SGML), MIL-R-28002A (raster),
and MIL-D-28003 (CGM) are conducted.
Listed below are samples of completed test reports. Hard copies of other reports are
available from the AFC. Send an EMail to Some include
graphics. The numbers in the brackets are the AFCPO/AFCTN test numbers.
We need to know if graphics will be of use in the Test Reports. We can now add all
graphics for the test reports but need to know if it will be of benefit. If you would like
to see all of the graphics involved with a Test Report, please send a message to .
If there is enough interest the graphics will be added to new reports and reports on the
system as time permits.
The AFCPO conducts an annual demonstration to highlight the CALS IGES transfer
specification. The 1994 demonstration was the third and consisted of a 60 MM Mortar
trigger assembly. Over 80 participants were involved in the demonstration. No major
surprizes were uncovered be the test.
The 1995 demonstration will feature an electromechanical assembly. The search for the
assembly is currently underway. Once the assembly is identified, IGES files will be
completed of all components. Three IGES files(drawing, surface and wire frame models) per
mechanical part will be available. The electric components will have IGES files meet the
new IGES Application Protocol. Every effort will be made to include STEP files of the
components for companies that would like to try their hand using the new ISO 10303
standard.
If you have an electromechanical assembly that you suggest or provide for the
demonstration, please contract George Elwood.
